The second Star Wars teaser, called "Mystery", has hit the web, and I've got a list of mirror sites for the interested. Normally being at work late on a Saturday night would be a bad thing, but it did allow me to get the teaser within about ten minutes of hearing about it. It's very nice--building on what we saw in the teaser before Monsters, Inc.--and I recommend you go watch it immediately. *******STATUS REPORT BEGINS******* Links still under construction, but now present. Imminent end of procrastination prevents further progress. Jenkins attacked by local fauna, small but vicious purple frog. Frog wound gangrenous; requesting permission to amputate. *******END OF STATUS REPORT******* I was all set to say that wasn't JP in the Gamecube commerical he linked to in the Mindfile. But after watching it, that's not him in closeup but he might have been the stunt double for the longer shots. That would explain where he's making the cash to cover his Mountain Dew habit... So, I went to see The Last Castle this afternoon, and I have to say that it's the best MacGyver episode I've seen in years. You should check it out at some point just to see what the prisoners build from everyday freeweight equipment. Other than that (which is, however, a significant enough fraction to justify rental or budget theater prices,) it's a pretty mediocre movie with plot holes big enough to [[insert your own joke here]]. But I did get to go see it with my friend Phil. I gamed with Phil starting back in college, then worked with him for a year setting up WisPolitics.com until I made the move to Humanhead. But as Phil's now married, and since I no longer work in the same room, I don't get to see him nearly as often. Which is really too bad, because a) Phil's a good guy and b) it's fun to make jokes about extraditing your enemies to Bolivia with someone who could probably make it happen with a phone call. Phil's a weird duck, half-geek and half-political animal. We keep trying to get the geek to come out and play more often (for one thing, I miss the D&D games he used to run,) but for now that's an uphill battle. Well, as he threatened to do, JP has linked to this page from the Mindfile (pimpin' right back at 'cha!) Now it'll be really interesting to see who comes by to witness my online breakdown and blatherings. I know he's in touch with a lot of the fondly-remembered and now-departed SA Goons who entertained me so much when I was but a lurker. If you happen to be one of them, thanks and hello. The Forums go on (well, not right now, but you know what I mean,) but they're not the same without you, folks. JP has also gone home after our crazy at-work marathon, and I am about to follow his good example. But before I do: after catching a couple on-couch hours around noon I awoke to find several email messages to the Monkeyfan list that I don't recall writing. Like this one, following a request to add someone to the list: >Tim VanDeHey wants in. They _all_ want "in". Is Goodman VanDeHey aware of the rights and Yeah, okay, I'll sign him up. But he better live up to this Herculean image >He is tired HE's tired? I'm loony! --Seth Apparently I was in a strange and interesting zone. As much fun as returning to that place again tonight might be, I now go to collapse, for I meet friends at the the-ay-tre for a noon matinee. Until tomorrow... "Sorry ain't gonna kill no Jedis, TOAD." Tell me I'm not the only one looking forward to the return of TMOL. Friday, November 09, 2001
It'll be interesting to see if anyone reads this other than folks at work (who I talk to all day anyway) and fellow Monkeys (who hear quite enough of me on the list, I'm sure.) So if you're reading this, let me know who you are. In a note relating to the newness of this page, expect much minor tweaking over the coming days. I'm finding myself having a lot of fun brushing off the old HTML skills (and learning CSSs, thankyouverymuch Blogger.) Well, back to work on projects I won't be able to tell you about for months (though I hope I'll get a chance to sleep a bit in the meantime.) While you wait, play a game. Today I've been spouting strange, improvised aphorisms for no apparent reason: "It's easier to get a picture of the devil in his underwear if you're already in his bedroom." |
