From the time you are accepted to WSU as a new freshman through the final days of your senior year, YOU, the student, are our first priority. With a student body of 7,000 students, you will be much more than a number on a computerized class list. Our personal touch begins with a summer pre-registration program for students and their parents. As an incoming freshman, you will meet individually with a faculty member from your area of interest to develop your fall class schedule. Such individual advising and guidance have continued to be an important and time honored tradition throughout Winona State Universitys 140 years of educational service. At WSU you can select a Bachelor Degree program from over 80 possible majors and minors. The five colleges within the university-College of Business, College of Education, College of Liberal Arts, College of Nursing and Health Sciences, and College of Science and Engineering-offer challenging and progressive programs. Winona State was the first public university in the upper Midwest to guarantee a bachelors degree in four years. In addition, Winona State is continually reviewing and updating its curriculum and student services, and has taken a position at the front of the quality initiatives in higher education. As a student at WSU, you will have the opportunity to interact with faculty from around the world. Our students represent almost every state and over 40 countries. Over 96 percent of our students graduated in the top half of his or her graduating class or received an ACT composite of 21 or higher. The cost to attend WSU continues to be a great educational value. Total expenses for a Minnesota resident are $6,200 annually and includes tuition, fees, room and board. In addition to a comprehensive financial aid program, WSU offers a wide array of scholarships to reward incoming freshmen for their special talents. Our Presidential Honor Scholarship program recognizes students with strong test scores (ACT=26) accompanied by a high class rank (top 15%). Talent scholarships are offered for those gifted in art, music, theatre or speech. Athletic scholarships keep WSU competitive at the NCAA Division II level. Students may reserve space in one of our residence halls, including the living/learning community at Residential College-Lourdes Hall, after they have been accepted for admission.Winona State guarantees on-campus housing for students who apply before March 1.
