The Divine Mercy Image of Jesus? A Sign of the "End Times?"

The public promotion and veneration of the Divine Mercy image of Jesus is very important. Jesus gave this request to St. Faustina. Specifically, He told St. Faustina that special graces are granted to souls who simply see His image.

Why is is this needed? Because Jesus told St. Faustina that this devotion is a sign of the end times:

Jesus said " Write down these words, My daughter. Speak to the world about My Mercy; let all mankind recognize My unfathomable Mercy. It is a sign for the end times; after it , will come the day of justice. While there is still time, let them have recourse to the fount of My Mercy; let them profit from the Blood and water which gushed forth for them........ before I come as the just one, I first open wide the gates of My Mercy. He who does not pass through the gates of My Mercy must pass through the gates of justice. *According to the Catechism, the "end times" began with the descent of the Holy Spirit.

Before I come as the just judge, I am coming first as the King of Mercy. Before the day of justice arrives, there will be given to people a sign in the heavens of this sort:

All light in the heavens will be extinguished, and there will be a great darkness over the whole earth. Then the sign of the cross will be seen in the sky, and from the openings where the hands and the feet of the Saviour were nailed will come forth great lights which will light up the earth for a period of time. This will take place shortly before the last day."

On a later occasion Our Lady appeared to St Faustina and said the following words: "I gave the Saviour to the world. As for you, you have to speak to the world about His great mercy and prepare the world for the Second Coming of Him who will come, not as a merciful saviour, but as a just Judge. O how terrible is that day! Determined is the day of justice, the day of divine wrath. The angels tremble before it. Speak to souls about this great mercy while it is still time for mercy. If you keep silent now, you will be answering for a great number of souls on that terrible day."

The quality or particular version of the Divine Mercy image is unimportant. There have been several versions over the years. The image found on this page is called the Hyla, named after Adolph Hyla the german painter. At one point, St. Faustina complains to Jesus that none of the painting of Him do justice to His beauty. Jesus explained to St. Faustina that it is not the "beauty" of the painting that is important, but His grace from the image.

Quotes From St. Faustina's Diary about "Spreading" His Divine Mercy image:

“By means of this image I shall be granting many graces to souls, so let every soul have access to it. (#570)

“Do what ever is in your power to spread the devotion to My mercy. I will make up for what you lack... - #1074

“I want the image to be solemnly blessed on the first Sunday after Easter, and I want it venerated publically so that every soul may know about it. #341

So, by promoting the Divine Mercy image of Jesus, in any way you can, you are helping introduce His Divine Mercy image, but more importantly, His grace of salvation!

A Special Promise From Jesus To Those who help promote His Divine Mercy

“My daughter, write down these words: All those souls who will glorify My mercy and spread its Worship, encouraging others to trust in My mercy, will not experience terror at the hour of death. My mercy will shield them in that final battle...

By Means Of This Image.......

In St. Faustina's diary, Jesus tells us that His mercy to our neighbor is exercised in three ways. By word, prayer and deed. "By means of this image, I shall grant many graces to souls. It is to be a reminder of my demands of mercy, because even the strongest faith is of no avail without works." (Diary 742.)

As explained by Jesus, we are not only to venerate His image and pray the chaplet, but most show mercy to our neighbors in word, prayer and deed. They cannot be seperated!

Heaven, Hell and Purgatory

Excerpts from the brochure which can be purchased above.

Hell

One day, I saw two roads. One was broad, covered with sand and flowers, full of joy, music and all sorts of pleasures. People walked along it, dancing and enjoying themselves. They reached the end of the road without realizing it. And at the end of the road there was a horrible precipice; that is, the abyss of hell. The souls fell blindly into it.......and there numbers were so great that it was impossible to count them...." - (Diary 153)

I, Sister Faustina, by the order of God, have visited the abysses of hell so that I might tells souls about it and testify to its existence..... (Diary 741)

Purgatory

"My mercy does not want this, but justice demands it." - Jesus to St. Faustina

.."The next night, I saw my Guardian Angel, who ordered me to folow him. In a moment I was in a misty place full of fire in which there was a great crowd of suffering souls......(Diary 153)

Heaven

"Incomprehensible is the happiness in which the soul will be immersed....Now I understand Saint Paul who said " Eye has not seen, nor has ear heard, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for those who love Him. (Diary 777)
