The memo states that the winners get a free trip to the Summer Nationals; actually, each winning team at the D13 final is given $1,000, provided that the
team participates in the national GNT finals.]
NOTE: Preregistration is REQUIRED for the D13 finals. See the D13 Conditions of Contest for details. You also need to make sure that Diane Vaughan certifies that you are

Grand National Teams
2006-2007
The District 13 2006-2007 Conditions of Contest will be available at the D13 Web site as soon as they are sent to me.
Dates, times, and location are apparently known now:
Dates: March 3-4, 2007
Location: Doubletree Hotel; 75 West Algonquin Road; Arlington Heights, IL; (847) 364-7600
Times: Saturday 11:00 and 6:00 and Sunday 11:00
The following information (that applies to Unit 149 players) is from Diane Vaughan - WUMBA coordinator for GNT for 2006-2007
Only qualification needed to play in the District Finals for WUMBA players - Unit 149 - is to play in a club GNT teams game.
Clubs need to hold GNT team games to give their players a chance to participate. Winning teams in each strata at the Finals will
get a free* trip to the Nationals to compete against winners in the other districts
This is a great chance, especially for B and C players, since they don't have to compete against any A or A+ (championship flight)
players. Directors inform your players and hold these games. Only $1.25 per table for the cost to ACBL
*[NOTE from webmaster: This is not quite true; the winners
get a fixed stipend (per team) from District 13; the amount for 2007 is $1,000 (it was $1,500 in prior years).
At least Nashville is not that far away, compared to some possible summer sites.]

Following is the text of a letter sent to all clubs in the WUMBA
unit
GRAND NATIONAL TEAMS
2005-2006
The Grand National Teams qualifying period has begun as of
September of 2005. All WUMBA Clubs are urged to hold GNTeams
games to give your players a chance to compete in this event.
The only requirement to qualifying for the district finals in
flights B and C, is to play in a club qualifying game. Only
Flights A and the superflight require ACBL membership in good
standing. These team games are easy to hold and cost is only
$1.25 per table.
The district finals will be held in Spring of 2006, March 4-5 in
Arlington Heights, IL. Flight C is non-life Masters with less
than 500 pts. as of Sept.1, 2005 totals. Flight B is up to
2000 points. Flight A is up to 5000 pts. and the Super Flight
is unlimited. All flights and A (super) are held together in
March. Any player is eligible to play up, for example a B
player could play in A and A (super) – no requirements except
to be a current member of ACBL.
It is important to hold these games. They are regionally
rated – half black and half red pts. - and the awards are
great! Even if your players don’t plan to play in the
district finals, they will still enjoy the team event and the
points. Try to hold at least one game. Use ACBL Score
or score by hand if you prefer. Forms are available for
scoring by hand. Let me know and I will send them to you if
needed. Send the results to ACBL with the check for table
fees. They will award the points. You may schedule GNT
Games all fall and in the spring until the B/C Finals.
