Did You Know These Interesting Philfacts?

I have compiled some very interesting 'Philfacts'. I hope you enjoy.

• The ancient Moache Ute, Anasazi, and Jicarille Apache Indians suddenly perished atop Uracca Mesa, a 8500' mesa in the south country of Philmont. If you would like to read a non-fiction book about this, check out Louis L'Amour's book, "The Haunted Mesa."
• Uracca Mesa is shaped like a skull, something that the early Indians realized and considered taboo.
• There was a Boyscout that disappeared on Uracca while on a Philmont Expedition in 1950. Supposedly he wanders around up there, occasionally talking with crews! When they ask him if he wants to join them, he says nothing and vanishes, never able to leave the fenced in area.
• The local town of Cimarron, population ranging from 400-800 depending on the season/tourist number, is home to the infamous St. James Motel. As legend has it, 26 men were drug out of the bar-feet first! When I ate lunch here, I did find out first-hand that there were still the bullet holes from the gunfights. Famous outlaws like Billy the Kid and buffalo bill cody fought 'til the death here!
