Yudansha in Waboku Jujitsu
Responsibilities and Privileges
Promotion to yudansha ranks requires advancements in a variety of areas (outlined elsewhere on this website). Promotion to yudansha also comes with new responsibilities to students, colleagues and the system. These are outlined in a general format below.
Shodan and Nidan are fudoshidoin (junior sensei). Fudoshidoin may run training and dojo. They are responsible for technical advancements for themselves and mudansha.
Sandan, Yodan and Godan are shidoin (sensei). In addition to the above responsibilities, shidoin may run and approve promotions. They are responsible for technical advancement for themselves, fudoshidoin and mudansha.
Ryokudan and above are shihan (senior sensei). In addition to the above responsibilities, shihan are in charge of the technical directions and requirements as well as other aspects of the Waboku Jujitsu system as a whole.
Promotions in Waboku Jujitsu may generally only be carried out and approved by yudansha that are sandan and above. If a sandan or above is not available, other protocols may be used with prior approval. One example would be to record tests for evaluation by shidoin or shihan.
All yudansha and mudansha are encouraged to study anything they want with anybody they want. However, promotion within Waboku Jujitsu requires acceptable accomplishment of the technical requirements, objectives, and guidelines of Waboku Jujitsu. Promotions that do not meet these should be attributed to a different organizational entity, but not to Waboku Jujitsu.
